Considering that we spend an estimated one third of our lives in bed, a mattress is worthy of some consideration. We may buy a mattress to help with our backaches, or to adjust to our comfort. Mattresses have come seriously up market since the regular old “spring coil” times.
Now, an innovative Spanish company ‘Durmet’ has designed “Smartress”, a mattress that….- there’s no getting around it – checks if your partner is cheating on you. After they saw figures on infidelity that said that Spaniards were the most unfaithful in Europe (figures according to Ashley Madison – extramarital affairs website), they had an idea to mix cutting edge technology with a very comfortable, average looking mattress.
“Smartress” is a cunning piece of equipment that allows suspicious partners to use an app on their smartphone that will alert them as soon as somebody presses onto the couple’s bed. What’s more, it tells them how many people and where they are on the bed!
The mattress has an inbuilt “Lover Detection System” which uses 24 ultrasonic sensors that detect movement to create a 3D visual map in real-time, to show which parts of the bed are experiencing more pressure and which movements are taking place.
At a cost of around €1,500, you could buy a piece of genius technology that has been described as “fool-proof” by it’s manufacturers in that the genius bit is so discreetly integrated into the mattress that it is undetectable. They say “It is a concept that will bring peace of mind to men and women, not just during the night but also during the day while they are out at work and the bed should not really be being used.”
