Quell by NeuroMetrix is a band designed to provide drug-free pain relief using WINS, wearable intensive nerve stimulation. Its intended for people who suffer from chronic pain caused by conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sciatica to name a few.
Sensory nerves are stimulated when wearing the band carrying neural pulses to the brain which trigger a natural response that blocks pain signals throughout the body. Therapy is delivered every hour and can continue during sleep.
NeuroMetrix claim that Quell can sooth pain in as little as 15 minutes depending on the person and the symptom. Opioids released during sessions come with the benefit of relief without the addictive euphoric feeling that is associated with pharmaceutical alternatives.
Quell can connect to your smartphone by way of an accompanying app as is the case with most things today and which you can use to track therapy sessions, sleep quality, battery life all of which can be stored on the Quell HealthCloud.
There are similar products already available however NeuroMetrix claim that their product is double the strength and is the only product of its kind that currently comes with a smartphone app.
This is not NeuroMetrix first product however the previous products could only be prescribed by physicians and not over the counter as is the case with the new device. Quell will be available in the US in spring and will cost $250 with additional electrode strips which will need to be purchased monthly for a further $30.
